What is a dental CBCT scan?

Dental Cone Beam CT Scans (CBCT Scans) provide high resolution, 3D images used by dentists for treatment planning. It is an accurate diagnostic tool to analyze oral bone and tooth structure.

CBCT stands for “Cone Beam Computed Tomography” and as whilst traditional dental X-rays provide 2D images on small areas, CBCT 3D images produce accurate and fuller images of the oral region to a much higher quality.

Dental clinics and dental practitioners use CBCT scan images in the planning of dental treatments such as:

  • Dental Implants
  • Orthodontics
  • Oral and Maxillofacial surgery
  • Teeth and Oral assessment

The quality of imagery produced is similar to that of a medical CT scanner, however it the cone-shaped beam gives us the information required with much less radiation and completed in 20 seconds or less.
